Position Summary

This position will be responsible for assisting chemists and other personnel on the production floor and in the laboratory. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience in an industrial chemical plant or chemical laboratory. A candidate for this position must be able to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers and observe the highest safety standards at all times when working with chemicals.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist in the synthesis of materials such as blending and screening powders, loading/unloading kilns, furnaces, and drying ovens, and pumping various acids and alkalis into reaction vessels.
  • Set up and operating processes, large and small scale.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of research and production data.
  • Assist with maintenance and cleaning of all manufacturing systems, laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Assist with materials and equipment purchasing as necessary.
  • Assist with maintaining raw materials identification and stocking as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelors of Science in Chemistry or a related field preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good math skills and the ability to perform basic calculations.
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, and the ability to work independently.
  • Technical problem solving and analytical abilities.

Preferred Qualities

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite – Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with lab safety standards and handling of hazardous materials.
  • The ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and interest.

A candidate for this position must be able to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers and observe the highest safety standards at all times when working with chemicals.

  • Synthesis of a variety of inorganic materials including setting up and operating production processes, large and small scale.
  • Ensure quality, quantity, and specifications for the final product.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of production and research data.
  • Assist with materials development and research.
  • Assist with maintenance and cleaning of all manufacturing systems, laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Assist with materials and equipment purchasing as necessary.
  • Assist with maintaining raw materials identification and stocking as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field.
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of chemistry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
