Phosphides
Phosphides are a class of compounds in which a P3- ion of phosphorus is combined with a less electro-negative metal. Phosphides where the metal-to-phosphor ratio is greater than one are hard, brittle, chemically inert, and have high thermal and electrical conductivity. Phosphides that are rich in phosphor, where the metal-to-phosphor ratio is less than one, typically have lower thermal stability and lower melting points. Lorad manufactures all of its phosphides in batch quantities.
