Oxides

Oxides are a large class of compounds in which oxygen is combined with another element. In their lowest oxidation state, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, and post-transition metals form ionic oxides, which contain the 2- anion. Metals with a higher oxidation state form oxides with more covalent bonds. The properties of oxides can vary widely depending on the element(s) that the oxygen is bonded with. Lorad manufactures most oxides as powders in batch quantities but certain commercial oxides are available in large-scale quantities. Additionally, select oxides are available as nano-powders.
