About Chromium

Chromium is a transition metal with atomic number 24 whose compounds commonly contain chromium in the +3 or +6 oxidation state. Chromium is used in stainless steels and other corrosion resistant alloys, while its compounds provide colors in pigments and glass. Chromium ions also give ruby its red color, but compounds containing chromium(VI) have substantially different hazards and require particular care.
