About Nitrogen
Nitrogen is a nonmetal with atomic number 7 that makes up most of Earth's atmosphere as a relatively unreactive diatomic gas. Nitrogen gas provides protective processing atmospheres and is the starting material for ammonia production. In solid materials, aluminum nitride is used for electrically insulating thermal management components, silicon nitride for structural ceramics, and titanium nitride for hard protective coatings.
