About Phosphorus
Phosphorus is a nonmetal with atomic number 15 that occurs in several elemental forms and a broad range of inorganic compounds. Phosphates are used in fertilizers, specialty glasses and ceramics, and lithium iron phosphate is a cathode material for rechargeable batteries. Phosphorus also acts as a dopant in silicon, allowing small additions to control the semiconductor's electrical behavior.
