About Thulium
Thulium is a lanthanide with atomic number 69 that commonly forms compounds in the +3 oxidation state. Thulium doped crystals and fibers are used in infrared lasers. The radioactive isotope thulium 170 has also been used in compact radiation sources, an isotope application distinct from the laser chemistry of naturally occurring thulium.
