About Strontium
Strontium is an alkaline earth metal with atomic number 38 that generally forms compounds in the +2 oxidation state. Its compounds are used in permanent magnets, dielectric ceramics and phosphors, with strontium aluminate providing persistent luminescence when appropriately activated. Strontium gallium sulfide, also called strontium thiogallate, is another phosphor host whose europium activated compositions produce green emission for luminescent materials and display research.
